Serie A President Luigi De Siervo has confirmed that the Italian Super Cup will not take place in Saudi Arabia for the 2026/2027 season.
“This is a complex issue. We have certain contracts in place, and we can say that it will not be held in Saudi Arabia. There is an idea to play in the United States, another international option, as well as the possibility of hosting it in Italy for one year,” De Siervo told Radio RAI.
The previous edition was held in Saudi Arabia, and organizers had a contractual option to stage the next tournament there as well. However, for undisclosed reasons, they have chosen not to exercise that clause, meaning the Super Cup will be held elsewhere.
Potential new locations include the United States and Italy. The tournament format is expected to remain unchanged, following the established “Final Four” structure. In addition to the reigning Serie A champions and Coppa Italia winners, the second-placed team from Serie A and the previous season’s Coppa Italia runners-up will also participate.
