Tottenham midfielder James Maddison returned to competitive action for the first time in 368 days, coming off the bench in the Premier League match against Leeds. The 29-year-old replaced Mathys Tel in the 85th minute as the game ended 1-1.
Maddison suffered a knee injury during a pre-season friendly against Newcastle on August 7, 2025, which ended 1-1. The England international was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and subsequently underwent surgery.
His last official appearance before this comeback was in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt on May 8, 2025.
