Ulsan Whales left-handed pitcher Nah Ho suffered a frightening blow to the head but is thankfully expected to recover quickly, with medical tests revealing no serious damage.
The incident occurred during a Futures League game against the LG Twins on May 11 at LG Champions Park in Icheon. Nah Ho took the mound in the bottom of the eighth inning with his team leading 13-2.
After completing his warm-up pitches, he turned toward second base. At that moment, a throw from catcher Park Jae-beom struck him directly on the back of the head.
Nah Ho collapsed to the ground and remained down for several moments, showing clear signs of pain. He eventually got up on his own and left the field with assistance from a trainer.
An Ulsan team official confirmed, “The CT scan showed no abnormalities,” and indicated that Nah Ho would recover quickly with rest.
This season in the Futures League, Nah Ho has made 14 appearances, pitching 9⅔ innings with a record of 1 win, 1 loss, 2 holds, and a 6.52 ERA.
Nah Ho was selected by the LG Twins in the fifth round of the 2019 KBO Draft and made his debut in 2020, showing promise with a 3.93 ERA across six games. In early 2021, he was part of a blockbuster trade, moving to the Doosan Bears alongside Yang Seok-hwan, while LG acquired Ham Deok-ju and Chae Ji-seon.
In his KBO career, Nah Ho has pitched 21 innings over 11 games, posting a 4.71 ERA.
